PD Workshop Series

​The Lifting As We Teach Professional Development Workshop Series

 

A curriculum-based learning experience designed for middle and high school educators. This multi-session series explores the histories of Black women who transformed Chicago and supports educators in bringing these stories, themes, and neighborhoods into classroom instruction.

What the PD includes:

  • Guided curriculum deep dives

  • Invisible Giants Documentary screening 

  • Collaborative discussion and reflection

  • Guided historical tour through Chicago

Designed for educators seeking content knowledge, instructional strategies, and place-based approaches to teaching Chicago history and community history.

Class Talks & School Visits

Classtalks are interactive, curriculum-aligned classroom visits designed for students in all grades.

 

These sessions introduce students to the untold histories of Black women who shaped Chicago through multimedia storytelling, discussion, and inquiry-based activities.

 

What students experience

  • Discover Chicago new landmarks & neighborhoods 

  • Explore how technology can preserve family, community, and personal stories​

Added elements
