Lifting As We Teach is a dynamic, interdisciplinary social science curriculum that centers the untold stories of Black women who shaped Chicago and the nation. It was created in collaboration with and for educators who want to use the guidebook with their students.
Designed for middle and high school classrooms, Lifting As We Teach invites students to explore leadership, diverse neighborhoods, and social change through the lives of trailblazing women featured in the acclaimed guidebook, Lifting As They Climbed by Essence McDowell and Mariame Kaba.​

The engaging curriculum supports active participation, critical thinking, and creative expression, making it ideal for classrooms that value engagement, inquiry, and student voice.​
